COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

We know that quality programs are hard to sustain in normal times because they cost more money than the private market can provide. We know that this health crisis threatens not only our fiscal health but that of the entire child care sector. 

When we reopen, we will be balancing core values with realities that we want to name. When deciding whether or not to reopen, we believe that we need to maintain quality care options in our neighborhood even if it means that we have to adjust some of our practices, even some practices that are central to our identity (such as the cooperative program, and school age care). 

We are committed to returning to core practices as the situation allows.

1. We believe that we have an ethical commitment to doing all we can to continue providing children with high quality child care options in our neighborhood; 
2. We believe that we have an ethical commitment to sustain the livelihoods of as many child care professionals as we can in the current environment; 
3. We believe that we must do all we can to integrate best practices to keep our children, their families, and our teachers safe; 
4. We know that the current situation is tenuous, that information and understanding of COVID-19 is evolving and that our capacity to serve families could change at any time; 
5. We understand that the guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other state and city agencies will continue to evolve and change. These new tasks, procedures, and practices for teachers, children and families will greatly impact core components of who we are and our central practices. We expect the following elements of our work to be impacted: 
6. The cost of our operations, with decreased enrollment and more new materials such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
